Description:
Requesting permission to remove 1 No. Holly (Ilex) tree and 1 No. Ash tree (Fraxinus Excelsior) from the front garden of the property. After many years of neglect from previous owners, I am in the process of returning the fabric of the building and its surrounds to a state benefitting of a family home in this area. Currently the front garden is being cleared of Ivy growth that has been allowed to 'carpet' the whole area over many years.Reasons for Removal:-T1 Holly (Ilex). This tree is a poor specimen and is showing signs of disease. It is inappropriately placed at the entrance to the property and is interfering with the telephone cabling to my neighbour's property(see photos).T2 - Ash (Fraxinus Excelsior). This tree is unsuitable as a result of its poor structure (5 diverging stems) and inappropriate due to its proximity to the house frontage. It not only causes excessive shading to the property due to its size (10m high est/10m est crown diameter), but also hinders any successful growth of underplanting with reduced light and nutrients available. After Removal:-The garden will benefit from increased light and therefore its ability to sustain a wider range of planting. It is my aim to replant the front garden area to replicate a 'traditional Victorian' theme by using 'classic' species such as Boxweed, Yew, Ferns, Spirea, Rhododendron, Lavender etc. The semi-mature variagated Holly tree that is currently beneath the canopy of the Ash tree will subsequently be afforded more light and contribute more significantly to the Egerton Road streetscene.
