Type:
Tree and hedge works
Status:
Status not known
Address:
The Old Rectory 73 High Street Coto
Description:
T1 Taxus baccata: this tree is located on the front lawn of the house and is currently blocking the view of the garden from the house and compromising the canopy of the adjacent larger Taxus. For these reasons the applicant would like to remove T1 to open up the garden view and improve the canopy shape of T2. No work proposed to T2.

Address:
The Old Rectory 73 High Street Coton Cambridge Cambridgeshir
Description:
T1: Fraxinus excelsior. Sectional dismantle to ground level. This tree shares the boundary with The old Vicarage and the churchyard overhanging the public footpath and sits to the corner of a neighboring property. The tree has a classic lions tail form common with trees pushed upwards in the woodland environment. Recent ivy removal from the main stem has exposed several cavities radiating around the stem around the point most susceptible to stress from wind throw. I would like to apply to remove this tree due to its proximity to a public footpath, graveyard and the neighboring property. T2 Populus x canescens. Sectional dismantle to ground level. This tree is situated along the same boundary as T1 but directly behind the neighboring property with a substantial amount of the crown over that property and over the public footpath. Again recent ivy removal has shown that in the past has lost its main leader and has formed a canopy made up of two large stems in a 'Y' shape. A large cavity has formed where the original stem was lost at the main union and carries on down the main stem for several feet and proceeds up the two remaining stems also.T3 Populus x canescens. Sectional dismantle to ground level. This tree has suffered a similar fate to T2 having lost one of its main stems. After removing some of the ivy on this tree it is clear to see that this has also compromised the remaining stem due to the set in decay. The removal of these 3 trees from the copse will allow light and space for some of the younger trees in the environment to develop and take their place. Should however it be necessary to re-plant then i would suggest something native and tolerant of wet conditions as the copse is cut by a marshy stream. For this reason i would like to suggest Alnus glutinosa. See application form for some sentences that were removed due to lack of space on the system.
