Address:
15 Low Lea Road Marple Bridge Stockpor
Description:
Fir tree - grown to a height and width to be significantly obstructing the light from the nearby lamp post. Lamp post No.2 on Low Lea Road is partly obscured and is the only light on the dark bridle path. The fir tree would be replaced with a native British tree such as a Rowen which would be of benefit to wild life. Happy to be guided on the choice by the Arboricultural Team. HAR/CA20.

Description:
Tree Works Application The tree in question is identified on the sketch plan as No1 a Cypress Fir. We have been issued with a Tree Re-Plant Notice concerning a felled fir tree. In March 2011at a site visit to discuss the replanting with a Hawthorn Stricta we were advised by Anthony Crook, Tree & Woodland Manager, that the Cypress Fir at the front of the garden was not in good condition and could be dead and need removing and replacing within 5 years. At the same time a suitable replacement of a native British tree was discussed. During a further on site visit in May 2011 by Jim McGarrie, Arboricultural Officer, the removal of the Cypress and a replacement was again discussed. We were of the understanding that both officers felt that due to the poor state of the Cypress that the local area would benefit from it being removed and replaced. We welcomed this expert advice and would like to improve the area and act upon the advice received. We are currently making arrangements to comply with the Tree Re-plant Notice and purchase a semi-mature Hawthorn Stricta to be delivered and planted by October 2011. As the Cypress has a limited life we would like to remove this tree and replant a second native British Hawthorn tree at the same time as replanting the Hawthorn Stricta in Autumn so that both trees can become established and benefit the wildlife and local community. As discussed with the officers we would like the Cypress Fir to be replaced with a semi-mature Hawthorn (scarlet variety) if possible if this meets with approval.
