The existing use is a house and the client is wishing to obtain clarification that the small modest single storey side extension is permitted development? The house is 1 Victoria Road and the front door fronts onto Victoria Road. It is our understanding that in accordance with the permitted development terminology below that the front of the house is as per our drawings which makes the extensions to the side of the house. The house, it's address and postcode clearly identify the house as being the first house on Victoria Road. Principal elevation - in most cases the principal elevation will be that part of the house which fronts (directly or at an angle) the main highway serving the house (the main highway will be the one that sets the postcode for the house concerned).... The side extension also does not exceed 4 metres in height, is single storey and is no more than half the width of the original house, therefore we believe the proposal to be permitted development. There is also the addition of roof lights to form a master bedroom in the loft
