- Description:
- I wish to apply for the removal of the Oak tree situated to the front of my property, there is only one tree on the property (Oak T1 on sketch). I apply on the basis of the following:The location is unsuitable. The tree is situated on the property border right up against the fence which border the pubic pathway, there will be limited growth room of the tree trunk as it will encroach into the public pathway. The overhead external mains electrical feed to the properties in the street bisects the tree. This results in the inner section of the tree being extensively pruned to provide safety clearance for the power cable (we have no control over the power company to do this). This in turn generates accelerated growth in the outer sections of the tree all in all causing substantial disfigurement. As a layman I have concerns about potential safety issue due to the bisection of the tree by the power line. There is also noticeable die back in the tree which may be attributable to trenching work under taken on the foot path by a utility company. In addition, the tree has an extensive aphid infestation which cannot be remedied and the tree in turn sheds an abnormal amount of sap. This together with the sugary secretion of the aphids attracts a larger than normal amount of wasps which is not ideal near the footpath nor to the younger residents next door or grandchildren. The existence of such a large amount of aphids also does not help promote a healthy growth of new plants and shrubs.Whilst we understand there is an amenity value to many trees the location and condition of tree gives a low amenity value. It is not in general character with the surrounding houses as here are no other large trees to the front of the properties at the Sandhurst Road end of the road, neighbourhood house front driveways are largely populated with bushes, hedges or smaller flowering trees. We propose to plant a broad-leafed tree - silver birch (R1 on sketch)- at the rear of
