- Description:
- Tree speciesAshDescription of and reason for proposed worksThis mature Ash tree adjacent to the road and overhanging a neighbouring property appears to be in decline there is a large amount of dead wood in the canopy and fungus on lateral branches. There is fairly heavy epicormic growth along many main branches, indicative of the death of growing tips.Within the last 2 months a large branch approximately 30 feet long fell from the tree across the driveway of 6 Church Lane having fallen, the branch butt was seen to be heavily decayed from within. Some decay is certainly present within the main stem from which this branch fell however it is unknown how far into the stem this has spread. The tree was recently climbed to remove a large dead branch overhanging the neighbours driveway.Due to the poor condition of the tree and history of dropped branches, an aerial inspection of the tree was carried out at the same time, where it was discovered that there is a large crack and substantial dead wood within a major fork at approximately 40 feet in height. Growing from this fork is firstly a large branch overhanging the roof of the neighbouring property and also a main stem forming a large part of the upper canopy of the tree. Failure of this stem would lead to one major branch falling onto the neighbouring roof and a substantial part of the tree falling to the ground.Due to the state of decline, history of dropped branches and likelihood of further major stem failure or other branches breaking and falling, proposed work is to fell the tree to ground level.
