Description:
TPO 1997-NO3 T1 - White Poplar (Populus alba) - . Dismantle to near ground level. Due to its proximity to other poplar trees, herbicide application to prevent reactive growth at the stump is not suitable. It is recommended that the stump is ground out, taking care to minimise damage to the roots of T2 where possible. The roots currently beneath the car park surface can then be removed to allow for the re-instatement of the surface. Any sucker growth from remaining roots in the lawn should be regularly mowed to remove them until the roots die and cease production. . Re-plant elsewhere on the site with a suitable native broadleaf species. This should be of a reasonable size to provide some immediate visual impact, at least a 12-14cm Heavy Standard. T2 - Aspen (Populus tremula) - Prune the canopy of T2 to reduce reactive growth at the historic pruning points by approximately 2 metres, focusing on the north, east and west sides of the canopy. This should include the thinning of growth to retain some suitable branching, allowing for strengthening of branch attachment points and the development of a manageable canopy.
