Address:
25 Manor House Gardens Abbots Langley
Description:
Within group G115, this application refers to 4 x Cypress Leylandii with remaining 11 TPO protected trees of varying species to remain untouched. Propose removal of the 4 trees in full, cut to stump.Note: TPO schedule refers to 6 x Cypress Leylandii but where 2 have already been lost in storms some years ago. With the consultation of Shane Lanigan of Urban Foresty (L.S.A. Certified Arborist & listed Three Rivers Tree SurgeryDirectory) the trees are considered dangerous due to their close proximity to each other (under 1m in places), shallow rootingand considerable height having reached c65ft (20m). Obviously planted as hedgerow boarders originally, left unchecked formany years their uncontrolled growth is now an eyesore. Poorly crowned at some point, multiple limbs have subsequently grown and the girth of the crowns extend across the full width of gardens to #23 & 25. They are considered a visual nuisancedisrupting the quality of life for residents of 23, 25, 27 & 29 Manor House Gardens throughout the year, casting nearpermanent shade across the full gardens at #23 & 25 causing die back of lawn through the garden, strangulation of otherneighbouring trees foliage (namely Sycamore, Ash & Scots Pine).Having consulted with neighbours at 23, 27 & 29, all would be extremely pleased to have their quality of life improved throughthe removal of these low amenity value trees. We would be left with a canopy of trees surrounding the valley that forms therear gardens of odd numbered houses in Manor House Gardens and dwellings on Abbots Road - mostly TPO protected(photos attached as Appendix). These remaining trees allow the passage of sunlight as well as shade to be enjoyed by all.Given the close proximity of the trees to others in the group it would be appropriate to not replace them instead allowing thecrowns of neighbouring Sycamore, Ash and Scots Pine to re-establish in the space.
