- Description:
- BEECH - TO THE RIGHT OF THE GATE - FELL BECAUSE OF DISEASEDon from Lincolnshire Tree Services has identified the fungus as Meripilus growing around the base of one of my gate beeches. He suggested in the strongest terms I inform you to agree a way forward. This is the second year this has happened as I naively assumed it just to be a common fungi. The tree is generally looking in worse condition than the other tree on the opposite side of the gate. As much as we love the tree, it would cause untold damage if it were to fall. The picture of the Meripilus fungi provided is approx. a third of the quantity around the tree roots. It has been suggested we leave approx. 1m of stump to reduce the risk of the Meripilus migrating to the other beech tree.
