Planning ref:

Type:
Tree and hedge works
Status:
Application refused
Address:
43 Clarence Road Wroxall Ventnor Isle Of Wight
Description:
The ash tree situated as detailed in the application is important to the setting of the surrounding area and as such considered to be of high amenity. The reason for the tree's removal are insufficient to warrant the removal of the tree. Whilst the tree is large it has sufficient space to grow into and the design of the property was carefully layout to accommodate this. No information has been submitted to demonstrate that the tree will or could damage the nearby structure which is stated to be necessary in section 8 of the tree works application. The movement in the paviours is not necessarily solely caused by the tree roots from looking across the paviours of the drive and the parking area there are several areas of movement causing the bricks to drop and settle this can be resolved by the lifting of them and careful root where necessary and relaying the bricks. No evidence has been submitted to demonstrate the cracks in the concrete is caused by the trees roots as cracks can be seen elsewhere which would not be caused by tree roots and could have been caused by the movement in the soil beneath the concrete. For this reason, the council cannot justify giving consent for the removal of the ash tree at the present time.
