Area 2 of Wood 5 is mostly trees aged about 30 years. There is no evidence that these have ever been thinned and as a result, there is a high density of tall spindly trees. The trees are mostly scots pine, silver birch, and beech with a few lime and oak. The application is to thin out the trees to a spacing of 4-5 metres, retaining the stronger trees.
