September 2022

Type:
Outline application - proposal prior to a full application, including assessments and scoping opinions.
Status:
Application withdrawn before a decision was taken
Address:
212 DEVONSHIRE ROAD, LONDON
Description:
The proposal is to create a rear infill extension for an early 1900s terraced house, add solar panels to the roof and add insulation to all rear walls of the house. The rear roof and walls are not visible from the street, and behind the house is Devonshire nature reserve so the rear is not visible from the majority of houses - so at most any of the work discussed here could be seen by the two immediate neighbouring properties. The infill extension will be single story, under 3m tall and less than 6m beyond the current rear wall - it will replace an existing smaller structure which was not built to modern standards, and will be made of the same yellow bricks as the existing walls. The insulation will be applied externally, and covered by brick slips of a similar yellow colour to the existing rear walls. The solar panels will be fitted to the rear roof and so again will be largely invisible to other properties, except perhaps from the gardens of the immediate neighbours. The panels will not protrude more than 20 centimetres from the external surface of the roof, and the highest part of the panels will not extend beyond/above the top of the roof.
