Description:
Referencing the sketch diagram. There are a selection of trees inside a conservation area. Some have TPOs and some not. This planning application is to address those who do NOT have a TPO associated with them. Tree type - Lime Tree number on sketch - L3 (Lime 3) - Crown Reduction -30%, remove base offshoots, remove dead/unstable limbs, shape Tree number on sketch - L4 (Lime 4) - Crown Reduction -30%, remove base offshoots, remove dead/unstable limbs, shape Tree number on sketch - L5 (Lime 5) - Crown Reduction -30%, remove base offshoots, remove dead/unstable limbs, shape, remove ivy Tree number on sketch - L6 (Lime 6) - Unstable tree - leaning at greater than 20degrees towards Tudor House and Mount Pleasant - life safety risk - tree work action is to remove L6 through controlled sectionalised removal by licenced/insured professional aboris/tree surgeon Tree number on sketch - L7 (Lime 7) - Crown Reduction -30%, remove base offshoots, remove dead/unstable limbs, shape, remove split trunk in favour of stable vertical trunk section In each case the trees have outgrown their plot (circa 70-80ft) and have not been maintained by previous owners of The Lymes in an acceptable manner. Crown reduction, shaping and dead wooding will remove life safety risk to roads at Mount Pleasant/Woore Road (A529) and path users, reduce leaf volume in autumn, and create a healthy and attractive lane of Limes in due course. The removal of L6 is required due to significant lean towards Tudor House and Mount Pleasant road/path and has been seen to swirl in a rotational manner during moderate to high winds indicating a higher probability of root failure and tree fall. Taking these proactive measures will restore the lane to safety, restore the trees to a sensible and manageable height and restore stability and promote new growth in the existing trees. For the tree being removed, L6, it is being considered to remove the upper trunk and employ a wood carver to shape the stump into a point of interest for lane walkers e.g. owl/squirrel etc.. and add additional character to the lane. A new tree (R1 replacement 1) will be planted in the grounds of The Lymes to compensate for the loss of the tree and will be of a similarly indigenous variety.
