Address:
Oak Cottage 58 West Hill Road Ryde Isle Of Wight
Description:
Consent to the following:T2; Bay laurel hedge situated as detailed in the application will be reduced in height by 2m approx.G3; 3 x Holm oaks situated as detailed in the application will be pollarded to previous pollard points.Refusal of the following:The tulip tree situated as detailed in the application is a good specimen and important to the setting of the surrounding area and as such considered to be of high amenity. The proposed work will cause the tree to be of reduced amenity. The reasons given in the application for the tree's reduction can be address through means that would not have such a detrimental impact on the tree's amenity. For this reason, the council cannot justify giving consent for the requested work at the present time.Allowance of lesser works:From the site visit it is seen the following work is thought to be acceptable. The tulip trees lowest primary branches extending towards the property can be removed and the remaining crown raised to match the crown height of the property side of the tree. The remaining crown can be thinned by up to 20% incorporating a crown clean. Prior to the work being carried out the tree officer is to have a meeting on site with the operative that is to carry out the work to discuss the lesser works considered acceptable.
