Description:
New front hardstanding to provide new vehicular access and off-street parkingCurrently there is an empty gravel bed in front of the property, we would like to convert/pave this into a hard standing area so that we can get a crossover in order for us to park a car in this area.Currently in front of the property there is space for around 3 cars unreserved and unmarked on-road parking. Once the hardstand is done and the kerb lowered for the cross over it will take up around 1 space leaving approximately 2 on-road parking spaces. As we usually park in one of these spaces and will now be parking in the hardstand (if this is approved) in reality the amount of parking spaces available to other cars will not change. On the rest of the road there is a mix of dropped kerb, crossovers and unreserved on-road parking. There are road works in our street starting on 10 August and running for approximately 14 weeks. As a part of these works we received a letter stating we could apply for a crossover. We submitted the application and sketch to crossovers@barnet.gov.uk and were advised we need to do this planning application for the hardstand area as the property is a maisonette. I own the freehold over the whole property and front area. There is a leasehold on the first level property, however I have already gotten written consent and approval for this from the owner. Currently the proposed area for the hardstand is a unused gravel bed. Quite a few of the properties (including the one next door and across the road have lowered their kerbs and have off street parking (similar to what we would like to do). There are no poles or trees in any of the proposed areas.
