- Description:
- Consent to the following:T1 Fir situated as detailed in the application is to be felled to near ground level.T2-4 Oaks situated as detailed in the application are to have the crowns thinned by up to 30% of their current crown capacity.T5 Magnolia situated as detailed in the application is to be felled to near ground level.T6 Copper Beach Tree (Acer crimson king) situated as detailed in the application is to be felled to near ground level.T8 Oak Tree situated as detailed in the application is to be reduced by up to 30% of the current crown capacity to achieve a balanced crown. The majority of the crown reduction is to be to the northern side of the tree and is to address the current asymmetry seen in the crown. All reductions are to be to good growth points that are at least one third of the diameter of the adjacent pruning point. This is in accordance with BS3998 tree work standard.Refuse the following:The oak tree detailed as T7 in the application is of good form and important to the setting of the surrounding area as such considered to be of high amenity. The proposed reduction of on third will leave the tree in poor form and could potentially impact on the tree's health. The reason for the tree's reduction is due to light loss however it is felt the reduction will have little impact on this issue given the other large trees in the vicinity of this tree. For this reason the council cannot justify giving consent to the proposed work at this time.Allowance of lesser works:From inspection of T7 it is felt that due to the canopy of this oak and the adjacent oak now touching it may be possible to reduce the tree marginally by 1 metre from the branch tips and remove the lowest branch overhanging the rear hedge to create an even canopy height.
