Tree and hedge works
Status:
Application refused
Address:
5 Willow Mead Romiley Stockpor
Description:
Lime (T1) - Fell because of excessive shading of the rear garden and house, the poor spatial relationship with the house and seasonal nuisance problems with leaf-fall and deposit of honeydew onto windows and hard surfaces- Around 40% of the elevated (useable) rear garden is currently covered by tree canopies- Almost 90% of the elevated (useable) rear garden is affected by the tree's 'shading segment' (British Standard 5837:2012 Trees in relation to design, demolition and construction - Recommendations), which indicates the tree's 'shadow pattern through the main part of the day. - The rear elevation of the house and the rear garden are east facing, with most of the available sunlight reaching the garden during the morning. The tree blocks most of the available morning sunshine. Measured at a point 1.5m above ground level, central to the rear elevation of the house, from mid-march through to mid-september, the tree blocks direct sunlight from between 7.15am and 8.00am, to between 12.15pm and 12.30pm. - The tree is only 5.4m from the rear corner of the house, with the crown of the tree extending up to the rear elevation. Consent was recently granted under application reference DC/062299 for the removal of a beech tree at 1 Willow Mead, on the grounds that it was 'very close to the building' and 'created excessive shade'. The spatial relationship of T1 with 5 Willow Mead, is no better than that of the recently felled beech tree and 1 Willow Mead.- Leaf-fall during the autumn and deposit of honeydew onto the rear elevation windows and external hard surfaces during the summer are significant problems for the property owner. TPO 310E, TPO 240E.
