This tree is possibly a flowering cherry ( 5.5 metres high with a trunk diameter of 30 cm approx) but it is in poor condition and growing very close to the boundary wall. Our neighbours want to remove the current dilapidated wall and rebuild it within our garden footprint bringing it very close to the tree. The works required to build the new wall foundations will necessitate removal of the root system on that side over a substantial area/ the tree, already in poor condition, is unlikely to survive. We would like to remove the tree and plant a new one in its place but away from the wall. Photograph and diagram attached. NB we have been informed that the works on the wall build will start in the week commencing 17/3.
