- Type:
- Tree and hedge works
- Status:
- Status not known
- Address:
- Orchard Lea Walton Street Walton-In-Gordano North Somerse
- Description:
- We are looking to fell a total of 53 conifer trees and a bay. 18 of the Conifers and the bay are in very close proximity to a wall protected under the conservation area, cracks along the wall and adjoining garage, show that the long term survival of the wall is being affected by the location of the trees. The remaining conifers we wish to fell are taking vast amounts of sunlight out of our garden, the conservation area, and in particular the neighbours over the road. They are grossly oversized and are of course a non native species which isn't in keeping with the surrounding forest and adjoining orchard. We are aiming to plant 5 apples, and 35 bay trees (to form a natural hedge along the protected wall to the east and to the boundary to the north) in their place. We have spoken to an arborist who has advised that felling is the most appropriate measure to ensure the survival of the protected wall, improve natural light and to return the plot to a more natural appearance in keeping with its surroundings.
