- Within the top of the existing garden on an area of flat land adjacent to the boundary, the applicants would propose to erect a single storey log cabin. Initially the cabin would be used as accommodation for the applicant whilst structural work is carried out on the existing property on the land. this structural work cannot be completed whilst the applicant is in residence. Once the applicant can reside back in the existing property then the cabin would be proposed to be used as a holiday let. The area is lower than the adjacent road that runs along the boundary and the existing plant screening along the boundary would remain in place. In addition in the corner of the land a vehicle access would be created. There is no raised kerb to the existing road at this location . The cabin would be constructed of timber and would sit under the canopy of the existing Beech tree at this location within the garden. An Arboricultural Impact Assessment has been carried out and due to the design of the foundations, a no dig method can be used to support the proposed structure, that will result in no effects to the adjacent trees The adjacent trees will remain untouched apart from recommended crown lifting, as this has not been carried out for a number of years and it would benefit the trees to have this carried out The AIA states that the proposed log cabin would have no effect on the three adjacent trees and the use of cell web below the cabin would provide the tree roots with run off water. The waste from the cabin facilities would be taken down the garden via new drainage to the existing septic tank. Overhead power would be installed from a adjacent overhead pole and water would come from the mains in the adjacent road.
