Description:
Regarding the Sycamore tree covered by the tree preservation order of 1974. It is the only tree in rear garden of 41 Lacey Green. (Ordinance survey map ref SJ8482SE). The tree is less than 6 metres away from large Oak tree belonging to 39 Lacey Green Sycamore tree was previously viewed (3 or 4 years ago) by an East Cheshire Tree Works officer who came to assess the Oak tree at No 39 (regarding thinning out). He stated that our Sycamore tree was in poor condition and would eventually need felling, as it was in extremely poor condition and was struggling to co-exist with the nearby Oak tree. During the last few years, the Oak tree at 39 Lacey Green has continued to grow and prosper whilst the sycamore tree has become more distressed and forlorn. The sycamore has much of its bark on the trunk broken away and often gets branches blown off during the windy weather. These branches are very brittle and clearly dead. The tree is top heavy and lopsided, leaning towards the retirement flats in Nightingale Close. This has instigated comments by neighbours, worried that the tree may topple in the high winds or a large branch may break away. As the property in Nightingale Close is situated only a few metres from the base of the tree, we are concerned with any risk should the tree fall. We are looking for the tree to be felled as it is clearly in a distressed condition and it may be of benefit of the nearby Oak tree to have more space and light. We don’t believe it would be appropriate to plant another tree so close to the commanding healthy Oak tree at No 39, but would have no objection to planting a small healthy tree if that was your recommendation.
