- Description:
- Basically, I have four trees at the bottom of my garden on 83A. These comprise three Conifers (Leylandii) and one Spruce. Two of the trees have suffered from bifurcation so there are in total six large trunks. These trees are now in the region of 80/90ft high. Whilst they are far enough away from my own house not to cause a problem, they are quite close to the boundary fencing and about six houses just beyond the fence. This spring a silver Birch which was in between these trees blew over in strong winds and smashed through the fence into the garden of one of the houses. Fortunately the direction it went meant that it only destroyed a few fence panels rather than the houses or worse personal injuries. This has now caused me some concern given the higher frequency of storms, the height of these trees and therefore the potential for them to also go over which could have a devastating effect.I have recently had a quote from a local tree surgeon (North West Tree Line - Steve) to reduce the four trees by about 50% which should render them safe for the next few years. However, I would appreciate your advice as to whether I need to apply for planning permission to have this work done. If so, how do I go about it, is it the normal planning form etc and is there any charge involved. HAR/CA10, TPO No: 72N.
