Planning applications

- Type:
- Tree and hedge works
- Status:
- Application refused
- Address:
- 1C Christina Crescent Nottingham
- Description:
- Lime tree T1 and T2 Works: Fell to ground level. Replace with 2 ornamental trees (species to be decided) Justification: Both trees are located in a raised bed, with a limited rooting area. The supporting walls have cracks and are in need of repair. The trees roots are likely to be exasperating any cracks/damage to the walls. Any collapse of the wall could lead to damage and risk of harm. The trees completely dominate the property, they cause considerable shade to the living quarters at the front of the property. Leaf litter and sap are leading to blocked gutters and damage to parked cars. The ever increasing size of the trees in the restricted rooting area increases the possibility of the root ball shearing, especially if the deteriorating retaining wall was to fail. The result of this would result in a catastrophic failure and significant damage and risk of harm. We considered reducing the trees but this would be a temporary solution with little benefits. In addition it would lead to an expensive burden on the homeowner to regularly re-reduce the trees. While the trees are in good condition they are out of scale to the other trees on the street and considerably bigger than any other trees in the vicinity.
