- Address:
- Flat 3 Arnold House 4 High Street Lowestoft Suffol
- Description:
- Listed Building Consent - In the process of repairing extensive water damage to the flat we had to deconstruct a non original single skin plasterboard and timber partition due to the extent of the water damage. It was presenting a danger and health hazard and putting the building at risk of rot. During this process we revealed what we realise must have been the original room with all its original cornicing intact. We believe it is the only room on the ground floor of Arnold House now in its original state. We would love to use the room in this form and preserve the grandeur of the original design. Since keeping it as a single grand space would mean the loss of a bedroom and we have 2 children, we also seek permission to move the kitchen across to one wall of this space. The proposed design is created to be unobtrusive in the room, as the proposed plan demonstrates. We will not need to impact the original wall as boxed in services are already in existence along this wall which we will make use of. At no point will any windows or original features be intruded upon.We have taken care to preserve the original flooring under sheets of hardboard with underlay and a click flooring system above. We have made no holes or nails in the original flooring, should it one day be restored. Our proposed alteration would allow the flat to preserve the grandeur of its original design whilst enabling contemporary family living.
