Previous Application File Ref: TPOHDC127 Ref. No: 9618530 dated 7 Feb 2007Identified as northern oak tree in documentation referenced above. To fell the northern oak tree leaving a semi-mature oak in place 1.5 metres to the west of thenorthern oak tree location. The oak tree referred to is a relatively mature oak tree which sits on the northern border of No.8 Waldorf Heights, immediately adjacent to the grounds of No.2 Savoy Grove (southern border). The main trunk leans by an angle of approximately 30 degrees towards the property of No. 2 Savoy Grove (south-eastwards). If the tree was to fall and make contact with the house (No.2 Savoy Grove) the tree would hit the house at a point approximately two thirds up the full height of the tree. We have again had advice from independent Arboricultural Association registered contractors who confirm that if the tree was to fall there would be significant risk of substantial damage to No.2 Savoy Grove and, possibly, serious injury to anyone in the property at the time. The significance of the lean of the tree is compounded by the fact that the majority of its canopy growth occurs on the east side of the tree, possibly promoting a fall in the direction of 2 Savoy Grove in the future. The unbalanced growth may be encouraged by the presence of a semi-mature oak tree growing 1.5 metres to the west of the northern oak tree. The recent storms, accompanied by significant movement of the branches of the tree, have again heightened my concerns. Whilst I understand that the tree is currently in a good state of health and unlikely to fall spontaneously, I believe that it is not possible to guarantee the safety of persons, or property, at 2 Savoy Grove in the event of very wet and stormy weather. The sail effect of the substantial canopy of this tree when it is in full leaf and the significant lean of the main trunk, combined with major ground saturation and high wind, could contribute to a serious failure of this tree.I no
