Stem has bottle butt most likely the tree reacting to the simultaneous white rot caused by the fungi. Crown has been kept as a pollard at 6m above ground level. Basal decay, cavities in base, cavities in stem are likely due to the size of the fungal fruiting bodies and the hollow noises from sounding hammer tests on the stem around the areas.
