The first major union of this tree has a lateral split which is likely caused from excessive crown weight. The proposed reduction will subsequently reduce crown weight and the stresses placed on this weakened union. In addition to the reduction it is proposed that dense areas of the crown have selective branch removal to further reduce crown weight. This will be an approximate 20% crown thin, but in dense areas of the crown only. Branches selected for removal will be of poor form, weak structure, dead, dying or diseased.It is also recommended that a Cobra bracing system of suitable configuration be installed to provide additional support to the weakened union.
