- Description:
- Red Chestnut T1, cut to ground. after a pre-prune, climbing inspection of T1, on 30/11/20 it was discovered the tree has several cavities within its main structure including a hole approx 50% of the diameter of the main stem, (at 4m height on S.E. side,) and two smaller but significant cavities higher up into secondary stems. I do not feel it is prudent to re-prune given that the cavities discovered are the result of rotting out of old pruning wounds and further injury will exacerbate this process. I would propose replacement of the tree, species and size of which to be decided.
