- T1 - Oak x 1 - fell to ground level and grind out stump of same Reasons: the oak tree is affected by three wood decaying fungi - Fistulina hepatica, Pseudoinonotus dryadeus and Armillaria mellea (which can be actively pathogenic). It is probably development stress that has enabled infection by these fungi. Both Eiffel Tower Fungus (P.d) & Honey Fungus (A.m) decay the underside of roots and the lower trunk/root crown or It is my view that this tree is sufficiently structurally compromised so as to be prone to catastrophic failure.
