T1-Sweetchestnut : The tree has suffered a catastophic branch failure/tear at circa 10m where there is visible heart wood and a fair to good level of occlusion within the affected area. Due to the point of trifurcation being so close the the defect there is a dispropotionate risk that a catastrophic branch failure will occur as a result. Undertake an upper crown weight reduction of no more than 1.2m from the tips inwards. Ensuring that no pruning wounds exceed 50mm in diameter and that all cuts are brought back to viable growth points. The work will not be detrimental to the tree physiologically or structurally. Nor will it affect the amentity value it provides due to the height of the adjacent trees.
