- T1 Lime: crown lifting. Our arborist (Mr Bill Crumby of Greentrees, Bridford, Exeter EX6 7ER) has identified a fork (photo 2) which may cause problems in the future. He proposes removing that branch, together with the four lower branches, in order to lift the crown and let more light into that area of the garden. The fork is about 3.5 metres from the ground. The tree is about 11 metres high, with an expected final height up to 30 metres.T2 Robinia: removal of dead wood. Most of the upper branches are dead, though there are green shoots here and there. The trunk is largely sound, and the arborist suggests removing the branches - which may soon become dangerous - and leaving the trunk standing as a feature, and for its wildlife value. In the meantime, we can plan a replacement.T3 Yew: shaping. This is a fastigiate tree. We have tidied the base of the tree over a number of years, and the new growth is now almost a third of the total height. There are a number of branches splaying outwards, and we would like to have these removed so that the tree will form a positive vertical accent in the overall treescape.
