Description:
T1 Poplar - Pollard at secondary fork 5-6m from floor level. This fork has distinguished factors seen in a compression fork which is continued radial growth resulting in pressure that tends to push the arms of the fork apart, the resulting stress concentration has given rise to swellings/flanges of adaptive growth on either side of the fork. This defect is seen on the attached photos also showing decay on one side of the fork. A pollard will retain the tree, which will be subject to a 4-5 yearly re-pollarding maintenance regime.
