- Description:
- A silver birch tree in our rear garden is dead. With recent winds a lot of dead branches and chunks of the thicker branches of the tree have snapped and fallen into our garden. The tree trunk itself is rotten, hollow, infested with ants and other insects and is at constant danger of breaking from the higher branches. We have a dog who is constantly out in the garden and it was fortunate he was not in the garden when the high winds snapped a number of large thick heavy branches from its uppermost height. Photos can be provided. Our children are 10 and 8 and our neighbours, who we are adjoined to, have a daughter who is 3, they are also at risk if out in the garden. We would like to reduce the size significantly so it does not pose a risk so as to stump it to 2 metre as we would like to keep it for the washing line. We do not want to replant any other tree as our garden is a very small patio garden.
