Description:
We have a very tall Alder Tree ( about say 25 metres or more in height ). There is long crack in the trunk at high level but more worryingly we noticed in the Spring that the top part of the tree was very slow to gain leaves and when they did appear seem very small compared with the lower part of the tree and this straggly top growth has not improved. We recently called out our tree surgeon (Trevor from SRA tree services) and he inspected the tree and shared our concern and suggested that for safety and to try to preserve the tree it would be best cut out about 6 metres from the top section and then reshape the remaining canopy.
