- T5 Horse Chestnut (T1 on the RPA map) T4 Sweet Chestnut (T2 on the RPA map): We now propose a different method for boundary and retention of higher soil levels. on the boundary line, approx 6 inches south of the higher retaining wall marked on the images in red i propose to renew the boundary with concrete posts and gravel boards to act as a retaining structure with fence panels above the gravel boards. The boundary line is within TPO root area. the fence posts will be situated 1.2 -1.8 metre apart guided by hole excavation and root presence. holes will be hand dug and relocated if large roots over 2.5cm are present. holes will be lined with plastic before post setting with concrete.

- Description:
- T5 horse chestnut is annotated T1 on the RPA map, T4 sweet chestnut is annotated as T2 on the RPA map. the modified RPA's are illustrated in blue and mapped out by Barnes and associates arbouriculturists. The wall is annotated on the RPA map in red, i have highlighted the west section in green which I propose as plan A. Plan A is to rebuild on the existing foundation (length of rebuild on photos and RPA map) using existing sandstone blocks a dry wall with some back excavation to incline the wall north to help retention and extend its life. It would require up to 6 inches of back excavation at the top tapering down to existing position at the foundation sparing any major roots larger than 4 cm with blocks placed around those roots as the wall is replaced. there would be no deeper excavation as the existing foundation will be reused. the west side of the wall will be left as it is in Plan A with no further excavation proposed. The neighbours at 42 lidgett lane proposed extension was granted permission in 2017 and has started in may 2024 part excavations of the superficial soil levels at the top of their drive on the east side (see photos with new pavers placed atop excavations) and they plan on further excavations westwards level with the front (west side) of their house to complete a foundation for their extension. This either requires a new retaining wall on the boundary line or with my permission where my wall is currently positioned just north of the boundary. An alternative they have not agreed to consider is that they damp proof the extension wall to act as a retaining structure which will not require any excavation beyond their permitted foundations for the extension. Without the extension being the retaining structure - Plan B would be a full rebuild of the whole length of the retaining wall (approximately 20m) to retain soils from the proposed new extension. This would require excavations deep to the existing wall adjacent to all our border trees and TPO t
