Acer Campestre self sown - fell the tree and replace with a Gingko tree or a mountain ash (rowan) that will tolerate the slightly shaded area. The tree is diseased and is being attacked by boring beetles or wood worm as can be seen from the small holes and is also being attacked by ants for syrup. The bark as been stripped by squirrels so it is not in good shape and my attempts to grow a rose bush next to the tree have failed as this is dying.
