- Description:
- Beech. Tree in conservation area not protected by specific TPO. Sketch Plan 1. It is proposed to remove one of a pair of two beech trees to the north-western side of the Summerhill plot. The tree to be removed closely abuts (within 0.3m) the eastern elevation of Olde Court Cottage. Please see photographs also provided. Works will include felling of the tree and removal of the remaining root stock above ground level. The tree is very close (within 300mm) of the eastern house wall of Olde Court Cottage. The reasons for the proposed removal of the tree are as follows: o Presenting a structural risk of damage to the property during especially during high winds. o Preventing adequate access to the wall for required maintenance - re-pointing works are currently underway to repair the structure addressing damp penetration but the works cannot be completed because scaffolding cannot be erected with the tree in the way. o Causing continual filling of gutters with debris, leaves and beechnuts (gutters has to be cleared every two weeks during relevant seasons) causing repeated overflowing of roof level guttering with risk of water ingress into the building structure. o Causing continual falling of debris, leaves and beechnuts onto the flat roof directly beneath causing build-up of rotting materials and potential damage to the flat roof surface with a risk water of ingress into the roof structure. o The tree canopy is immediately above and around the log burner chimney posing a potential fire risk. o The tree is highly disfigured and does not add to the aesthetics of the tree conservation area.
