Hawarden Bridge Shotton
Description:
The proposed works are to remove the existing decayed timber deck planks and replace with composite glass fibre decking planks with resin bearers. The new decking planks and bearers will be fixed to the existing steel cantilever using existing fixing bolt holes. The walkway is bolted to the east elevation and cantilevers out from the grade 2 listed railway bridge and was installed in 2003 and is approximately 172m long x 2.3m wide. The walkway carries a cycleway and walkway over the River Dee and the new decking will have very little impact on the bridge appearance and will allow the continued safe use and enjoyment by the public.
