- Description:
- We have 7 mature beech trees in our garden that had the crown lifted in 2008 following permission from Cardiff Council. This work was carried out by Cardiff Technoscapes supervised by Vanessa Jones. The same company has recently carried out an inspection of the trees and we asked advice about maintenance of these same trees. We would like all trees to undergo lifting of the crown and thinning. During the inspection it was identified that one tree is heavily suppressed within the group. Because this tree has poor form and low potential for the future the recommendation was to consider removal of this tree. We therefore request that this tree is removed as part of the process. These are mature beech trees that are under a Tree Preservation Order. We have left the trees alone since 2008 when we had maintenance work done to these trees. However, they have regrown their shape and we have had a large branch fall down recently. The trees have also started to take quite a lot of light away and we would like to go back to the situation we achieved in 2008 where the trees are safe the crown is more lifted and crossing branches are not closing up the canopy. We will rely on the expertise of Cardiff Technoscapes to carry out the work appropriately so that the tree shape is improved in the process and more light is allowed into the garden and house. The grass around the trees has started to grow a lot of moss and bold patches have appeared. It is desirable that this can recover as a result of this work.
