Address:
33A Market Place Howden East Riding Of Yorkshir
Description:
To replace second floor dormer windows in 33a and 34a Market Place Howden (one single building) The building is in a conservation area but was built in the late '70s.The present windows are single glazed, top hinged mock Georgian windows in a 50/50 split (ie 3 panes wide and 4 panes tall so are incorect proportions for the mimicked period). They are difficult to maintain as they are on the second floor and set back a meter or so behind the gutter line so a full scaffold has to be built in the Market Place even to clean them properly. In addition the flats are let and, despite many requests the tenants seldom open them to allow any ventilation. The result is that the timber windows which were replaced about 6 years ago are already rotting away. Replacements to be double glazed, woodgrained PVC, traditional, vertical sliding sash windows in a 1/3:2/3 ratio (3 panes wide and 3 panes tall) The whole appearance as recommended by the Conservation Officer.
