Description:
T1 - Holm Oak Work - Remove Reason - Extensive surface rooting is lifting the driveway. The lifted sections of driveway represent a severe use for Mrs Roberts who is suffering from Fuchs dystrophy which impacts on lack of visual depth perception. Mrs Roberts has already suffered from a fall and is now unable to drive to pedstrian access has become of greater importance. The driveway now needs re-surfacing which cannot be undertaken whilst the tree roots are prominent in the driveway. There are also concerns as to root spread towards the road, as the raised bed in which the tree is planted appears to be restricting root spread in this direction. The Tree is also breaking the retaining wall, repair of this wall would not be possible without damage to the root zone. Moving the wall away from the current location is not viable due to size of the front driveway. An decrease in driveway space would prevent access for motor vehicles. The tree is nowhere near mature size and if retained the risk of failure due to restricted rooting zone will increase. The lifting of the driveway will also increase making it un-useable in the future. The tree is not considered a suitable species for the location. Included main union. This type of union has trapped bark between the stems which puts pressure on the union from the inside pushing outwards resulting in failure. There is no pruning option to remedy the issue. The tree represents a risk to safety. Quotes from doctors letter (full letters can be supplied in confidence if require): "Mrs R (Bead) has Fuchs dystrophy which is a hereditary corneal chronic condition. It is uncurable but treatment helps slow the (inevitable) advance. Bead is seen regularly by the eye department specialists at LRI and is on daily medication. The condition means that she had to surrender her driving licence some years ago. In practical terms, even with the most appropriate prescription specs, she cannot, for example, read text on the TV. The most serious aspect is lack of depth perception, which means she cannot see unevenness. Stairs and kerbs are especially problematic." "This patient has bilateral corneal disease which affects her vision. This especially happens under certain lighting conditions and will make mobility/walking hard at certain times as she will not be able to see kerbs or stairs very well. We have asked her to be careful when she walks and try to keep to flat surfaces to prevent falls or injury." T2 - Holm Oak Work - Remove Reason - Included main union. This type of union has trapped bark between the stems which puts pressure on the union from the inside pushing outwards resulting in failure. There is no pruning option to remedy the issue. The tree represents a risk to safety. Replanting: Yes <2x trees as replacements following discussion with council to agree on species. Smaller species with less vigorous root systems would be more suitable.
