- Description:
- Healthy Lime tree (T1) in a conservation area, but without a TPO on it. Crown reduction of 3m because of contact with the walls and gutters of No. 12 and No. 13 King Alfred Place. After pruning the tree will be approximately 20 ft high and and 12 ft wide, and clear of both houses. The tree is in the applicant's garden. It has been reduced in size approximately every 2 years ever since the area became a Conservation Area, and permission has always been granted. Work is always carried out by the same well-qualified and experienced tree surgeon.

- Description:
- Crack willow (T2) - fell because the lower trunk is now within 4 cm of the old Victorian boundary wall between my garden and the one next door. It is not a protected/rare species and was self-seeded in the late 1980s. It was originally positioned higher up the garden nearer the house, but I transplanted it to its current position as a sapling, not realising how large it would grow. It has been regularly pruned back professionally every two years (after planning permission was granted) but is now too large for the site. If it pushes the wall, which will certainly happen over the next 12 months according to the expert advice provided by the tree surgeon I use, not only will it destroy the wall, but could seriously harm the family living next door if it fell on them, given that my garden is at a significantly higher level than theirs is. The tree originally framed and shielded mine and neighbouring houses from having to look at the leisure centre car park, but there is now a large mature evergreen tree overhanging my end boundary (planted by WCC when the car park was reconfigured nearly 20 years ago) that serves exactly the same purpose (T4), and is actually more effective being an evergreen variety whereas mine is deciduous. I propose to replace the willow tree, siting it further away from the wall, and selecting more of a specimen variety such as a silver birch, exact species to be decided.
