- Description:
- Pear Tree (3443)- reduce in height by 5m, and remove one large branch. Tree is coming to the end of its natural life (probably 100 years old) and is no longer healthy. One branch is beginning to rot at the base, and is potentially dangerous. Large pieces of branches often fall after windy weather. Excessive fruiting last year, but none this year. Tree space is contested by nearby very large, health, Catalpa. Tree surgeon has suggested reducing height and weight of pear tree branches to avoid excessive strain on the tree from high winds. He believes tree may be at the end of its natural life and reducing the height will help it survive. We want the tree to survive as long as possible, but are preparing ourselves mentally for its inevitable demise.
